Images captured from our journey to Wekiwa Creek also called “Blue Run and Rainbow Springs”, during early Spring. Nearer towards the head-spring, we observed the white sand bottom through clear water. In the wetlands, the water was darker like “tannin tea”. Throughout, trees like hickory, sweetgum, cypress, sabal palm, sawpalmetto and pine were standing tall; strong plants like swordfern, spiderwort, beautyberry, wild grape and greenbrier were observed.

Images of scenes captured while on a journey to locate small mounds, some call “middens” near Blue Pond, (Pomona Park, Florida). Our interest was peaked to experience this location because Blue Pond, due to its position over the aquifer, maintains its stable water level when other water bodies in the area suffer substantial draw downs during droughts. We observed the tranquil waters under a blue sky, while walking atop sandy soil covered with pine needles and leaves. The aroma of the pine needles was bold in the air as we noticed it before looking for the source.
